We are proud to share Richard's unique and sensitive photographs of historic Celilo Falls, Oregon.
All were taken at one of the last tribal fishing ceremonies in the fall of 1956. Enjoy this rare opportunity to own a piece of history.
Celilo Falls (Wy-am) was located in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge. For thousands of years it was a crucial hub of salmon fishing and commerce for native tribes. On March 10, 1957, the opening of the brand new "The Dalles Dam" completely flooded the entire falls area. This ancient, sacred area was completely destroyed. The landscape and lives of the Columbia River People changed forever in an instant.
